Dress Expectations

Respect and Safety: All attire should be safe and appropriate for a school setting. Clothing that promotes violence, illegal substances, or hate speech is prohibited.

Inclusivity: Clothing that adheres to cultural, religious, or individual expression is permitted if it aligns with safety and respect for others.

General Standards (All Grades)

The building principal, or their designee, has the final authority in determining whether a student’s dress, grooming, or body piercings are appropriate.
Apparel featuring writing, symbols, or pictures that are vulgar, suggestive, or imply sex, drugs, alcohol, violence, or discrimination is prohibited.
Coats and backpacks must be secured in lockers or designated areas upon arrival and remain there until the end of the school day.

Elementary School Guidelines

Tops: Shirts must be of appropriate length; halter tops, backless tops, and midriff-revealing styles are prohibited. Tank top straps must be at least two adult fingers wide.
Bottoms: Shorts and skirts must touch the student's fingertips when arms are held at their sides. Sagging pants are prohibited, and loose pants must be belted.
Footwear: Closed-toe shoes and tennis shoes are encouraged for safety. Flip-flops, slides, house shoes, and shoes with wheels and/or lights are not allowed.
Grooming: Body piercings, with the exception of ears, are prohibited at the elementary level.
Accessories: Unusual/large jewelry, chains, and sunglasses are prohibited indoors.
Headwear: Hats, caps, hoods, and other full coverage headwear, including bonnets, are not to be worn indoors, except for documented medical or religious reasons.

Corrective Procedures

Students in violation will be asked to correct the attire (via modification or alternative clothing) before returning to the classroom.
Students who violate these rules may be denied admission to class and face disciplinary action.

Middle School Guidelines

Middle & High School Guidelines

Tops: Clothing must fully cover the stomach and chest. While Policy 4511 emphasizes "minimum restrictions," attire must not expose undergarments or private areas.
Bottoms: All styles (except pajamas) are permitted if they cover undergarments and private areas while standing, sitting, or bending.
Length: All shorts, skirts, and dresses must reach mid-thigh when standing. Ripped clothing is only permitted if the rips are below mid-thigh.
Footwear: Shoes must be safe for walking; house slippers and shoes with wheels are prohibited.
Headwear: Hats, caps, hoods, and other full coverage headwear, including bonnets, are not to be worn indoors, except for documented medical or religious reasons.
